Art, Technology

Hello, I am Johanna. I work at the intersection of

ABOUT

I am a researcher, consultant and cultural manager.

With a background in Futures studies, Philosophy and Media Studies, I explore the impact of emergent technologies on culture and society and the role of art and design in mediating and engaging us in current and future issues. Next to my research, I lead workshops on futures, AI and sustainability and consult organisations on how our understanding of futures influences present capabilities. As a project coordinator and consultant, I conceptualize cultural programs that link art, technology and society to promote ideas for just and sustainable futures.

EXPERTISE

  • I am passionate about sharing my research and insights through presentations, panels, and seminars. Some of my favourite topics include Sustainable AI, AI Visions and Myths and the history of machine intelligence and AI and Creativity. I strive to spark meaningful discussions and provoke new ways of thinking about futures by questioning our assumptions about technology.

  • In my workshops, I combine methods of futures studies with topics on digital transformation to promote transdisciplinary, multiperspective, and creative (futures) thinking. Through creative engagement with possible futures, participants are empowered to navigate uncertainty and understand how our perceptions of the future can shape our actions in the present. Together we explore questions such as: how do we imagine a humane digital future? How can we redesign and counter current narratives of our digital futures? How do we make sense of digital transformation and its many social, political, cultural, and environmental implications?

  • As a project coordinator and curator, I specialize in conceptualizing and developing interdisciplinary cultural programs. By integrating a diversity of perspectives I develop and conceive conferences, exhibitions and workshops that intersect art, science, technology, and (sustainable) futures.
